The Rules: tagged by http://minusventures.tumblr.com

Rule1: Always post the rules

Rule2: Answer the questions the person who tagged you asked and write 11 new ones.

Rule3: Tag 11 new people and link them to the post.

Rule4: Let them know you’ve tagged them!

The questions from http://minusventures.tumblr.com/

My Questions

1. DC or Marvel
I would probably say Marvel since the 90s X-men comics boon was the first time I really got into comics. (I used to have my sister quiz me on who had been married to who, who was whose kid, who had what powers, etc.) But, I read all over the board now and probably read more outside of the big two than in.

2. Pick one Super Power
I’ve always wanted to have Mystique’s powers, to be able to manipulate how I looked, but I’ve always wanted flight too. So, I generally cheat and say I want the power of molecular level manipulation because seriously, if this were an old school comic that would let me do whatever I want :)

3. What would be your Super Hero name? (don’t pick one that already exists)
Fast Sugar Bunny was the name I gave myself when I was maybe 4 or 5 years old, because apparently I was a superhero that was fast. So, we’ll go with that. It makes me think of Molly Hayes’ Princess Powerful :)

4. Would you rather watch The Beatles or Led Zeppelin live?

The Beatles 100% I grew up listening to The Beatles and my dad will sometimes even talk about Paul McCartney like he is his musical soulmate. I do like Led Zeppelin but it’s not in my blood in the same way.

5. Iron Man suit or Green Lantern ring?

Green Lantern ring. Though I’ll admit I had to do some research because it was awfully close.

6. If you had to be a Super Villian’s sidekick who would it be?

So, this is a popular answer I’m sure but I’ve always loved Harley Quinn. Because if you’re going to be bad, why not be crazy bad and hang out with both the Joker and Poison Ivy, right?

7. Tie or Bow Tie

Depends on the outfit but generally tie.

8. What is your favorite Doctor?

10. Though I’ll have to admit I’m only super familiar with the reboot Doctor Who, so I may be missing out on something with 1-7 (I’ve seen 8’s movie, okay but not my favorite.) But 10, David Tennant, that geeky madman.

9. Would you leave everything to become The Doctor’s companion?

Yes, and I say that as someone who loves their husband dearly but he’d totally understand.

10. Favorite Show?

This is unanswerable because there are too many. I watch a lot of shows. Right now though I most look forward to Justified, the writing and the acting is just so very good, but ask me a different day and I might have a different answer.

11. Celebrity you would live your whole life with?

My mom grew up in Hollywood and she really brought it home that celebrities are just people like anyone else; so, I’ve never had unrealistic expectations of celebrities. Although I have said I’d leave the hubs for David Tennant. It’s the smile. And how smart and funny he is in interviews. And the accent. And because, you know he’s brilliant…

So this past weekend was Melbourne Supanova, and wow it was a freaking amazing weekend.  I can easily say, hands-down the best Convention experience I’ve had as a trader.
I met so many wonderful people and everyone was so sweet and supportive, I even had people from Tumblr coming up to me and saying how they were excited about me being at the show because they were a fan of my work.  I have fans!  (A mind-blowing concept for me…!)

Over the weekend I was offering my usual commission sketches, and they kept me flat-out.  I barely had a second to leave my booth and wow I got some great requests.  I got to draw all of my favourite DC comics ladies as well as some My Little Ponies and a Sonic the Hedgehog.

In the few minutes I did have to myself I stopped by Gail Simone, Nicola Scott and Terry and Rachel Dodson’s booth.  As soon as I saw this print Terry did for his Australian trip I knew I wanted one:

I’ve also wanted Nicola’s Secret Six x Wizard of Oz cross-over print since forever so I had to get me one of those.  Gail was also handing out signed Red Sonja post cards.

While I was waiting at Terry’s booth Dave Gibbons was talking to me and he said he saw my Red Sonja picture and loved it.  I nearly diiiiiiiiiiiied!  Dave Gibbons likes my work!  He laughed and said he wasn’t just saying that because he was standing next to me.
Terry Dodson also signed my Wonder Woman trade and doodled a little Wondy in it for me:

A short time later Terry was also kind enough to stop by my booth and took a look through my portfolio.

I cannot thank everyone enough for making it such an amazing weekend, Rowan and I both had so much fun.  I also got an invite for a Free Comic Book Day event coming up in May I’ll share details of when I can.  So exciting!
